POSITION: COMMUNITY LINK ON LOIZA STREET, MACHUCHAL
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The San Juan Bay Estuary Program (Estuary) is seeking professional services to be part of the conservation and prevention efforts for aquatic debris in our water bodies.
The community liaison for Loíza Machuchal Street will be the link for the community in general for the development of the project focused on the reduction and proper management of solid waste on Loíza Street during the period from October 28, 2019 to September 28, 2020.
TASKS TO BE DONE
- Facilitate and maintain constant communication between the community and actions between residents, merchants, entities, organizations and government through Loiza Street and the solid waste management project.
- Coordinate and facilitate visits, meetings and activities related to the scope of the project.
- Support the formation of a network of merchants who seek and support the reduction and segregation of solid waste generated.
- Support the creation of a recognition process for merchants and project participants.
- Support the recruitment of volunteers to support efforts to reduce waste and segregate materials.
- Drafting quarterly progress reports.

- Experience coordinating meetings and facilitating communication between sectors.
- Interpersonal communication skills and relationship building between the community and various actors.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Flexible, positive attitude, focused on finding solutions and a desire to achieve results.
- Ability to manage time effectively.
- Ability to work through stipulated deadlines.
- Capacity for teamwork.
- Bilingual spelling and pronunciation (English and Spanish)
REQUIREMENTS
- Having your own computer.
- Easy access to the Estuary offices.
- Being a resident of the Machuchal community.
- Experience and/or relationship with the businesses on Loíza street.
COMPENSATION
The contract compensation will be discussed and determined based on the candidate's credentials and experience.

Founded in 1994, the San Juan Bay Estuary Program is a non-profit organization whose mission is to restore the San Juan Bay Estuary system, the meeting point of river water with the ocean in eight municipalities.
