We've reached 30 years! Since 1994, we have worked tirelessly to restore, conserve, and protect the interconnected ecosystems of the San Juan Bay estuary. Our work would not be possible without the communities of the region, our partners, and all the contributors who have made these three decades a success. Water quality module

Microplastics characterization and reduction module
– January 25 – Introductory workshop on microplastics and other aquatic debris; with Coral Avilés, from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm via Zoom
– January 27 – Field trip: microplastic characterization; with the Estuary's aquatic waste manager, Cristina Ramirez, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am (boat trip—location to be announced).
Connecting with nature: biodiversity, community and resilience in estuarine wetlands
On Friday, February 2, 2024, World Wetlands Day, join our education team for an informative talk about the importance of this ecosystem in the San Juan Bay estuary, from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm via Zoom. Register here.
Family day out at the County Lagoon Estuarine Nature Reserve
We're kicking off our 30th year of service! This Saturday, February 3, 2024, celebrate with us at our next family day out at the Condado Lagoon Estuarine Nature Reserve. We'll have games, sports activities, interpretive tours, and an outdoor workshop on coral reefs and seagrass. Don't miss it! Events begin at 3:00 p.m. and continue until 7:00 p.m., culminating in an Estuary Movie screening. See more information at estuary.org/events.
Estuary Cinema
Following the family outing, Cine del Estuario presents: The Little Mermaid (2023); on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 7:00 pm in Jaime Benítez Park at the Condado Lagoon Estuarine Nature Reserve. The screening will be in Spanish with English subtitles. This screening is free. Bring your blanket or chair!
Support us with your refund
When you make your individual contribution this 2024, support the Estuary with a tax refund. Look for the option “Contribution to the Special Fund for the San Juan Bay Estuary ” on line 1B of the “Refund” section . Read more here.
Weekly bacteriological monitoring
Assessment conducted on Thursday, January 18, 2024. We have a GREEN flag for the Condado Lagoon Estuarine Nature Reserve. We recommend avoiding the area that exceeded the Beach Action Value water quality standard of 70 CFU/100 ML. Remember to avoid the water after rain events. Have a great weekend!
