Estuary Update!

Greetings to our volunteers, collaborators, followers, and the estuary community. We hope you are well upon receiving this email. We share These initiatives and actions are carried out week after week. These activities, tips, and information are for the benefit of everyone.

Weekly water quality monitoring

We present the results of the weekly water quality monitoring, Conducted on Thursday, November 12, 2020. Published every Friday at 3 PM by our Facebook page.

The analysis shows a high presence of the fecal bacteria known as enterococci. Enterococci are indicators of contamination in water bodies by sewage and are considered indicators of potential waterborne pathogens. Periodically, some water bodies exhibit high levels of enterococci, particularly during precipitation events. For this reason, we recommend avoiding recreational use of the Estuary's waters during and after precipitation events.

These results are not related to or connected with the diesel spill incident reported this week.

Giving tuesday

The Estuary invites you to participate in the #GivingTuesday 2020 and thanks them for their continued Support and participation in the achievements of this past year. For over 25 years, the Estuary has led not only the restoration of our waters, but also the well-being of the population of the Metropolitan Area.

Your contribution to the Estuary will help us develop Puerto Rico's first multi-jurisdictional risk mitigation plan over the next year. This plan will help communities in the San Juan Bay Estuary watershed reduce their vulnerabilities and prevent damage to property and lives.

Please consider donating to the Estuary starting today. No matter the amount, your contribution will help us achieve more resilient ecosystems and healthier communities. #GivingTuesday is celebrated this December 1st, 2020.
