Estuary Update!
Greetings to our entire estuary community. We send you our warmest regards and hope you are well as you receive this email. We are sharing these initiatives and actions carried out week after week. These activities, tips, and information are for the benefit of all.

We have raised a red flag, therefore, we recommend avoiding recreational use of the lagoon. Recent rainfall has resulted in elevated enterococci levels in the eastern part of the lagoon. Remember to exercise caution when using natural waters for recreation after rainfall events.
La Goyco Community Workshop diverts used cooking oil
We thank the Machuchal Limpio Committee, La Goyco Community Workshop, residents of the Machuchal community, and the JA oil recycling company that helped divert a total of 49 gallons of used cooking oil. This used cooking oil will not impact bodies of water or cause wastewater to overflow from the sanitary sewer system.
We remind you that every gallon of oil threatens sewer systems, creating blockages and overflows of wastewater, which in turn contaminates our waterways. It is estimated that half of all sanitary discharges into waterways nationwide are due to these blockages caused by oils, oils, and grease (FOG).
Let's protect our water infrastructure, reduce, divert and reuse our used cooking oils.
