Greetings to our entire estuarine community. We send you our warmest regards and hope you are well upon receiving this email. We share These initiatives and actions are carried out week after week. These activities, tips, and information are for the benefit of everyone. This week we were celebrating the World Water Day,  Last Monday, March 22, 2021. It continues to be part of this effort that seeks to raise awareness about the importance of water resources, their proper management, and the conservation of this resource so vital to life. Remember that every action counts in keeping our waterways clean

Book presentation Estuarine Voices

The Estuary invites you to the book presentation Estuarine Voices: Life Stories in the Communities that Make Up the San Juan Bay Estuary, el Tuesday, March 30, 2021, from 6:30-8:30 PM by Facebook Live. 

The book presents accounts from residents of rural and urban areas of the Metropolitan Area of ​​Puerto Rico, highlighting their collective and individual relationships with their natural resources and their struggles to defend them against unchecked urban development.

The book will be presented at a forum featuring its editor, historian Dr. Javier E. Laureano, its compiler, historian Dr. Ruth García Pantaleón, and contributors Sonya Canetti, director of the Projects Office of the Puerto Rican Foundation for the Humanities, and José Santiago Reillo, community leader from the Cantera Peninsula. The event will be moderated by Brenda Torres Barreto, executive director of the Estuary.

Earn your Public Health Merit Badge 

Attention Scouts – Estuary and the Guaitiao District of the Boy Scouts of America in Puerto Rico, in collaboration with the Graduate School of Public Health of the Medical Sciences Campus of the University of Puerto Rico, offer you workshops to obtain the Public Health Merit Badge. These workshops will be offered on Saturdays, April 10 and 17, 2021, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, through the ZOOM platform.

Asset identification workshops for the San Juan Bay Estuary Mitigation Plan 

We began recruiting collaborators to help identify assets (facilities, installations, infrastructure, or value systems) in estuarine communities for the formation of the Multijurisdictional Mitigation Plan for the San Juan Bay Estuary. It is part of this initiative.

Estuary Resident Artists 2021

We present to you the new Resident Artists of the Estuary, Zuleyka Alejandro and Juan ClimentLearn about their project, which aims to create a recycling center that also functions as a workshop for creating artwork from diverted materials.
