Estuary Update! 

Greetings to our entire estuary community. We send you our warmest regards and hope you are well as you receive this email. We are sharing these initiatives and actions carried out week after week. These activities, tips, and information are for the benefit of all. 

We thank all those who were responsible with the environment, especially on the beaches, this past Wednesday, June 23, 2021, During the celebration of San Juan's Night. Thank you for remembering that the beaches belong to everyone.

Weekly water quality monitoring

We present the results of the weekly water quality monitoring, made the Thursday, June 24, 2021. These are published every Friday for our Facebook page.

Series from training workshops: identify risks and vulnerabilities

We continue with the Training workshops for the identification of risks and vulnerabilities of the communities of the San Juan Bay Estuary watershed.

There are still spaces available for participants from the municipalities of Trujillo Alto, Canóvanas, Loíza, Carolina and Guaynabo. 

These workshops aim to prepare you for the process of validating and documenting vulnerabilities that pose a risk to your community in the event of a natural or man-made disaster. They consist of an informational section, followed by a collaborative session where we will identify vulnerabilities in your geographic area with other participants.

Resident Artists of the Estuary

Voices of the Estuary

Community leaders Angélica Huertas and her son, Pedro Carrión, share with us over 70 years of stories from the community of Juana Matos, located in the Ciénaga Las Cucharillas, a resilient ecosystem within the San Juan Bay estuary watershed. We dedicate this episode to the memory of Angélica Huertas.

By taking care of the sewers, I protect the sea

Estuary presents its initiative to divert used cooking oil, one of the efforts focused on the Importance of proper handling of used oils through the San Juan Bay estuary watershed.  Through the Estuary Resilient Centers, this project seeks to preserve water quality by diverting this pollutant from the streets and sewers.

The bell "It shouldn't touch the floor or reach the water." The project aims to improve solid waste management along Loíza Street. It involves local businesses dedicated to protecting the environment and water resources.

Open-air Estuary Cinema is back! 

Next Saturday, July 3, 2021We will be presenting the movie Moana at the Jaime Benítez Park in the Estuarine Nature Reserve of the Condado Lagoon.
