Censuses of terrestrial birds in the urban forests of the Estuary

September 30, 2022—After several field visits to validate and mark GPS monitoring points in seven urban forests, we began the training phase for the estuarine citizen scientists who will be part of this important project. We thank this group for their commitment over the coming months.

Thanks also to BirdsCaribbean Thank you for your confidence in supporting this proposal and for the leadership of our education team, Coral Avilés Santiago and Eliezer Nieves Rodríguez.

We continue birdwatching in Estuary to ensure the well-being of the birds and the urban ecosystems they inhabit.

Weekly bacteriological monitoring

Evaluation performed Thursday, October 6, 2022. We have green flag in the Condado Lagoon Estuarine Nature Reserve. On the coast, the Cervantes Street area did not meet the quality standard, so we recommend avoiding any contact in this area and being alert for precipitation events.

Message from your Virtual Community Center

Estuary urges you to download the Community Hurricane Preparedness Guide and follow their recommendations this season. The strength and resilience of your community begins at home. This June, we continue to urge communities to recognize the risks of natural disasters and stay informed during this time.

Take advantage of our information platform, the Virtual Estuary Community Center, where you will find vital information to prepare yourself along with your family and community.

We remind you that to learn about Risk Mitigation and identify risks, conditions, and community assets in your community, you can access:  https://estuario.org/mitigacion/

The restoration and water quality management efforts in the San Juan Bay estuary watershed are made possible by our supporters. Donations to the Estuary are tax-deductible in Puerto Rico and the United States.
