Through our weekly update, we share opportunities for collaboration, volunteering, and employment; through initiatives and planned actions that benefit the ecosystems and communities of the San Juan Bay estuary. These activities, tips, and information are for the benefit of everyone.
Exhibition of estuarine artists
Estuary invites you to visit the exhibition: Art under the stars; by Estuary resident artist Faviana Silva, tomorrow Saturday, May 7, 2022, at 6 PM in Jaime Benítez Park within the Condado Lagoon Estuarine Reserve. Artwork created by children and young people from the Rayitos del Saber Homeschooling group will be exhibited through the project. Art for the future. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Certification of scientific citizens
We continue with the series of elective workshops for citizen scientist certification. Don't miss the upcoming workshops for the thematic modules on participatory bird censuses, water quality monitoring, and coastal resilience:
- Bird censuses: an introduction to eBird – Wednesday, May 11, 3PM
- Bacteriological analysis: quanti-tray method – Wednesday, May 18, 3 PM
- Mangroves and sand dunes: resilience of coastal ecosystems – Wednesday, May 25, 3PM

Beyond Plastic
Environmental justice and the changes needed to achieve it begin in our communities. Therefore, we invite you to a training session covering the current state of the plastic waste crisis on the island, what you need to know to take action, the measures that have been taken from a public policy perspective, and the platform created by established stakeholders. It will be offered on two dates. Friday, May 13 and Saturday, May 14, 2022, from 10 AM to 12 PM. Both dates will have the same workshop.
Short film festival
Join us on Friday, May 20, 2022 al Second Short Film Festival: Micro-stories of Climate Change in Puerto Rico; At 6 PM at the C3Tec facilities in Caguas. Organized by the Transdisciplinary Institute for Social Research and Action (ITIAS) of the UPR Humacao.
