The moment has arrived! Create your group, choose a monitoring point, and participate in the largest citizen science event on the Island: Puerto Rico's Water Monitoring Day 2022 will be on Saturday, August 27, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Access our interactive portal, where you can read more about the event, identify bodies of water you can monitor in your preferred area, and register to participate. Sign up now!
Throughout July, we will be offering training workshops where you will learn how to use the water quality monitoring kit—which we will provide—and how to submit the data and parameters you collect. This data, collected by citizen scientists like you, will become part of a global water quality registry. We will be posting the dates soon on our website. These workshops will include both in-person sessions (across the island) and virtual sessions (via Zoom). Stay tuned to our social media channels and weekly updates for more details.
Weekly water quality monitoring
Evaluation conducted on Thursday, June 16, 2022. We continue with green flag In the County Lagoon Estuarine Reserve, although there is an area in the lagoon that did not meet monitoring standards. There are two other areas with red flags along the shoreline, so we recommend avoiding these areas and being alert for any precipitation events.
