Certification of scientific citizens

Four citizen scientists are certified with the Estuary

A salute to the four citizen scientists who completed their certification process in our coastal resilience module!

Collaboration of the Department of Science and Technology of the Inter-American University of San Germán

As part of the requirements for certification of the module of Characterization and Reduction of Microplastics from the Citizen Scientist Certification Program, Last Saturday, July 9, volunteers from the module analyzed samples and identified them as primary and secondary microplastics. They also categorized them (pellets, fragments, foam, microfibers, films). These samples will be analyzed by student Alexis Rosado, under the supervision of Dr. Angela González, as part of a collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology at the Inter-American University of San Germán.

Weekly water quality monitoring

Evaluation carried out on Thursday 14 of July of 2022. We have Red flag in the County Lagoon Estuarine Reserve and another area that did not meet quality standards, so we recommend avoiding any contact with these areas and being alert to precipitation events.
