Estuary Update
Through our weekly update, we share opportunities for collaboration, volunteering, and employment; through initiatives and planned actions that benefit the ecosystems and communities of the San Juan Bay estuary. These activities, tips, and information are for the benefit of everyone.
Citizen Scientist Certification
The current round of elective workshops for the Citizen Scientist certification with the Estuary continues: don't miss the workshops corresponding to the thematic modules of Microplastic Characterization and Reduction, Water Quality, and Participatory Bird Censuses. The next workshop is Microplastic Identification: Using Infrared Spectroscopy; on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, from 7-8 PM via Zoom.
Weekly bacteriological monitoring
Assessment conducted on Thursday, August 11, 2022. We have a green flag for the County Lagoon Estuarine Nature Reserve. There is an area in the lagoon and along the shoreline that did not meet the quality standard, so we recommend avoiding these areas and being alert for precipitation events.
